Key Highlights: DTI, an affiliate of Dot Foods, Inc., partnered with Orange EV to integrate zero-emission trucks into its fleet. Deployed in 2018, this first electric terminal truck has transformed operations at DTI’s distribution centers. By replacing diesel-powered vehicles, DTI reduced its carbon footprint while maintaining high productivity. The truck’s performance has exceeded expectations, supported by charging stations that ensure consistent uptime across multiple shifts. This infrastructure has been vital to keeping the fleet operational and efficient. Kevin Buss, DTI’s Director of Fleet Maintenance, praised the milestone: “We’re proud to reach this incredible milestone with our electric terminal trucks. These trucks have consistently supported our operations, and the 30,000-hour mark proves the durability and reliability of Orange EV’s electric terminal trucks in our high-demand environments.” He emphasized the broader impact, including safer conditions for drivers and ongoing environmental benefits. Orange EV, based in Kansas City, has been a critical partner in this success. Kurt Neutgens, President & CTO of Orange EV, noted, “Dot Transportation has demonstrated what’s possible when a company prioritizes innovation in its fleet operations.” He highlighted that the truck’s original battery pack remains in use, a testament to the design’s quality. With over 1,300 trucks in its fleet nationwide, Orange EV continues to lead in sustainable transportation solutions. Looking ahead, DTI plans to expand its electric fleet by adding four more Orange EV trucks in 2025. This follows the addition of three trucks earlier, which further reduced greenhouse gas emissions. DTI’s efforts position it as a leader for companies aiming to balance profitability with environmental responsibility. The partnership with Orange EV sets a benchmark for the industry, proving electric trucks can deliver long-term value. Dot Foods, Inc., and its transportation arm, DTI, manage a vast network distributing 125,000 products across all 50 states and over 55 countries. With 1,800 trucks, DTI operates one of North America’s largest private fleets. Orange EV, founded in 2012, supports this scale with its zero-emission Class 8 trucks, logging over 20 million miles nationwide.
