Orange EV Announces Initial Sales of T-Series Pure Electric Terminal Truck, an Industry-Leading First

KANSAS CITY, MO – June 2, 2015 – Orange EV a manufacturer of industrial strength electric vehicles today announced a first for the heavy-duty EV industry.  The company is filling an initial order for its T-Series pure electric terminal truck destined for 24×7 manufacturing & distribution facilities in Chicago, Illinois.

Commercially Ready and Financially Viable – Orange EV’s T-Series Pure Electric Terminal Truck

“The market is clearly ready for electric trucks and Orange EV is the only firm with a 100% electric, plug-in terminal truck solution proven to do what customers need” said Mike Saxton, Orange EV’s Chief Commercial Officer.  Terminal trucks serve a critical role helping streamline freight
logistics and are known by many names like: hostler, spotter, tractor, yard truck, buggy, mule, yard dog, shifter and more.  Orange EV’s industry partners have invested significant time and resources to test and prove the T-Series across the many terminal truck applications.  Their effort is now paying off as customers buy and deploy trucks for commercial use.   Saxton added “In addition to the many operational and environmental benefits, the T-Series lowers total cost of ownership through significant savings in fuel, maintenance and other operating expenses.”

With Orange EV’s T-Series, customers have a faster, lower-cost way to begin their migration to electric trucks.  In producing the T-Series Orange EV completely remanufactures existing trucks and delivers to operators “a new truck they already know.”  This approach minimizes the change companies must manage as they begin deploying electric trucks.  In the future these same customers could also buy new trucks offered through Orange EV’s recently announced collaboration with Kalmar Ottawa, the industry leader for today’s diesel terminal trucks.  Kalmar Ottawa tested Orange EV’s T-Series and concluded that it is the first distribution focused electric terminal truck that matches the performance and reliability for which Kalmar Ottawa is known.

Setting Records: T-Series Cost Effectively Supports 24 x 7 Operations with Power, Endurance & Reliability

The T-Series has been tested and proven in a range of fleet operating environments including: LTL freight transportation, distribution, parcel, manufacturing, intermodal services and more.  Customer trials onsite with national brand leaders in these environments showed that Orange EV’s electric terminal truck can reliably do the job of current diesel trucks while delivering far greater environmental and financial value.  The T-Series has shown in typical applications that it can work for up to 24 hours on a single charge, easily establishing itself as the endurance-leader in terminal trucks.  Fleet operators are excited the T-Series supports existing driver shift schedules while charging only during existing breaks.  Drivers consistently favor the T-Series for simplified operation and driver comfort where noise, vibration, heat and emissions are eliminated or greatly reduced.

 Test Drive the T-Series

Operators may experience the T-Series zero-emission, electric terminal truck for themselves at test drive events and onsite trials.  Orange EV is now scheduling customer trials for Chicago starting in late June.  Contact Orange EV for more information emailing or by calling 866-688-5223, Ext. 702.
