Orange EV, the leading U.S. manufacturer of pure-electric yard trucks, has announced that several of its customers now each operate more than 100 of its electric yard trucks at facilities across the United States and Canada. The news marks a significant milestone in the commercial fleet industry’s transition from diesel to electric.
The adoption of Orange EV trucks by these large fleets comes in response to growing concerns over diesel-related operational challenges, escalating fuel costs, and health and safety risks. Orange EV’s electric yard trucks offer a cleaner, more cost-effective, and reliable alternative.
“For too long, diesel has been the default, and fleets have tolerated the many drawbacks inherent to diesel yard trucks including work interruptions and downtime due to emission control systems that were not designed for low-speed operations, time-consuming fueling trips, and frequent and slow repairs,” said Zack Ruderman, Orange EV VP of Sales & Marketing. “These aren’t just frustrating, they’re expensive. Our trucks and service eliminate these issues and deliver what diesel can’t: superior reliability, significant lifetime savings, and peace of mind. Orange EV trucks are better than their diesel counterparts in every way. The fact that they are also zero-emission is icing on the cake.”
Among the most common pain points cited by fleet operators are high and unpredictable diesel prices, frequent breakdowns, and costly maintenance. Orange EV trucks offer an alternative powered by electricity, which is not only more cost-effective but also more stable in price, providing a financial buffer for operations.
Orange EV reports its e-TRIEVER® trucks achieve more than 98% uptime on average. The company supports its vehicles with an industry-leading standard warranty, including a 7.5-year battery warranty. An optional extended warranty covers additional components for the same duration or up to 30,000 operating hours.
The switch to electric has also helped address issues related to driver turnover. “Orange EV trucks are built for comfort and performance, eliminating the noise, vibration, and fumes that lead to diesel yard truck drivers’ fatigue and safety issues. Drivers overwhelmingly prefer the smoother, cooler, quieter, and cleaner Orange EV trucks,” the company stated.
While the upfront cost of electric yard trucks can be higher, customers report that lower operating costs – particularly for fuel and maintenance – have led to strong returns on investment. In one fleet, two Orange EV trucks each exceeded 30,000 hours of operation, saving an estimated $395,000 in fuel costs alone.
Orange EV currently leads the sector with more than 1,400 electric yard trucks deployed, totaling over 8.5 million operational hours across 40 U.S. states and Canada. The company supports its 300+ customers with a comprehensive, U.S.-built solution that includes trucks, charging infrastructure, and dedicated service teams.
