KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI — Orange EV announced that the Orange EV T-Series is the first and only terminal truck solution qualifying for financial incentives through Drive Clean Chicago. With Orange EV, terminal operators can save from day one on fuel, maintenance and other costs. They will now also save an additional $45,000 to $75,000 in purchase price per truck.

A unique offering, Orange EV’s T-Series is functionally equivalent to current diesel terminal trucks but delivers far greater value. Orange EV drivers and fleet managers have the power to haul the same load while spending 90% less in fuel and eliminating both diesel fuel and emissions.

Orange EV manufactures pure electric terminal trucks customized to the customer’s operating environment. Starting with an existing truck Orange EV removes all the elements of the diesel power train (e.g. motor, transmission, supporting systems), installs all electric power train and control systems, and reconditions remaining components. Orange EV even takes the chassis down to bare metal before repainting and reassembling to deliver a truck with a new, full life. This approach lowers cost, maximizes recycling and delivers a like new truck drivers already know. Even better, the Orange EV power train and control systems are maintenance free and guaranteed under written warranty.

With the program announcement, Orange EV’s Chief Executive Officer Wayne Mathisen was quoted as saying “Orange EV applauds Chicago’s leadership in developing a meaningful incentive program which promotes significant emission reductions in a commercial urban environment.”

Chicago is the largest inland general cargo port in America, and the city as a whole is the commercial transportation hub of the nation. Given fluctuation in fuel costs, vehicle emissions and the lack of infrastructure for alternative fuels, Drive Clean Chicago provides important incentives to enable Chicago fleet owners implement clean vehicle solutions which are better for business and the environment.

Funded by resources from the federal Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) program, Drive Clean Chicago supports Mayor Emanuel’s mission to make Chicago the most livable, sustainable and competitive city in the world. Sustainable Chicago 2015, the City’s sustainability roadmap, calls for enhanced use of clean fuels and clean vehicle technologies to reduce emissions by transportation vehicles. Through the program, funds are paid directly to vehicle providers to reduce the cost of vehicle purchase and range from $45,000 to $75,000 per vehicle.
