KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 3, 2016 – Moran Transportation Corporation announced that it has placed a follow-on order for Orange EV’s T-Series electric terminal truck (aka yard spotter) for use in Moran’s Chicago operations.  Moran has been pleased with the performance and value demonstrated with their first T-Series purchased last year.  Company officials say that the electric truck has had an immediate and substantial effect on reducing their carbon foot print.  Operating electric terminal trucks is reducing unit energy cost by more than 80% even with the low price of diesel fuel.

“We are thrilled at the immediate impact of the new spotter. Our goal is to reduce our dependency on gas/diesel fuel as we grow our business by investing in alternative fuel vehicles” said Rob Petzold, Vice President of Moran Transportation Corporation. “We are very pleased with the functionality and the energy reduction of these new trucks. We hope that we can expand our fleet of electric vehicles as the new technology becomes available.”  Orange EV’s T-Series is the first heavy duty, class 8 truck of its type commercially deployed.

Moran is deploying Orange EV’s standard duty truck, operating through the shift and then plugging in with battery to spare and recharging overnight.  Other fleet customers have deployed Orange EV’s Extended Duty truck with larger battery pack and alternate charging solutions.

We applaud Moran for helping lead the effort to drive higher standards for sustainable operations, financially and environmentally.” said Mike Saxton chief commercial officer, Orange EV.  “Orange EV’s T-Series pure electric terminal trucks are doing the job at a lower cost of ownership while eliminating diesel and emission.”
