Siemens US Fleet Electrification Program Includes an Orange EV Yard Spotter

Siemens US is targeting a 90% cut in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 across its fleet of more than 8,000 vehicles. Most of the shift so far has centered on passenger vehicles and vans, but Siemens is also electrifying heavier equipment: alongside an electric tractor unit from Volvo, the company has added an electric yard spotter from Orange EV.

Adam Orth, US Head of Fleet, Mobility Services at Siemens Corporation, described the transition as an ongoing process rather than a fixed playbook. Siemens has tested its electric vehicles across a wide range of climates, from Alaska’s winters to Arizona’s summer heat, and found maintenance needs minimal and battery degradation a non issue even after years in service.

Siemens’ addition of an Orange EV yard spotter reflects a broader pattern: as large fleets decarbonize every part of their operations, battery electric terminal tractors are becoming a natural fit alongside electrified vans and trucks.
